I was having a look at Elgg the other day and was wondering if anyone out there has gone down the route of a school social network site, perhaps using it as their VLE.
As long as it is set up securely with the right user policy in place, then I think it could be a very exciting development in a school.
Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?
By the way, Elgg is a free, open source social network platform. Can be found at Elgg.

I can see that you have begun to identify that enormous potential of exactly what we are working on within our new startup, SKoolAide. Picture a social media site to where every bit of content, every connection, every discussion, every pushed ad, every feature is built and framed through enhancing the collegiate educational experience.
We are nearing the completion of our beta site, and are looking forward to making the right connections and partnerships in our bold vision to transform the educational space. I'm glad you posted this, let's keep the discussion going. Tell me a little about yourself too!?
